If your school doesn’t offer free meals for all, your student may still qualify for free school meals.

  • Check your school district’s website to apply. Use OSPI’s Washington School Meals Application Finder to be directed to your school district’s online meal application. If you are unable to find information on applying for free school meals, contact the office at your child’s school directly.

  • Eligibility is based on your family’s income.

  • Students who qualify for free school meals may be eligible to have other school fees waived, including field trip and athletic fees.

  • Your child’s school might provide additional food resources like free afterschool snacks or meals, a school food pantry, or a backpack program where students can take home a bag of food each weekend. Ask the office at your child’s school if any of these are available to you.

  • You do not need to be a citizen to receive school meals. Receiving school meals does not make you a public charge.
